Shearer Keeps Southgate South

Following the 3-1 victory over fellow relegation battler - Middlesbrough, Newcastle finally moved out of the bottom three with Hull City sliding down to fill the void.

Boasting world-class names such as Fabio Coloccini, Obafemi Martins, Michael Owen, Mark Viduka, Joey Barton and the latest addition, Mr Alan Shearer himself, this is a squad that fshould not have even be considered as a relegation battler from the beginning.

While Mike Ashley really deserves nothing better, I would be gutted to see Alan Shearer bear the rap should Newcastle do get relegated. And I am sure there are others out there that echo my sentiments.

Among the three teams mired at the bottom of the table - Hull City, Middlesbrough and WBA, Boro is arguably the least deserved team to go down when the season closes. However, with only two more games to go and Sunderland with 36 points - five away from Boro, hope is thin for the exemplary gentlemen holding up the fort at the Riverside Stadium.
